ABOUT NELLY

I'm a Dutch artist based in Heidelberg, Germany. Having painted since I can remember, it was during the last 10 years that painting has taken a very important role in my life. Even though I have a theme in mind when I start with a new piece of art, the finished work is a process of repainting and changing colors, moving the piece upside down and finally deciding: this is it!

 

My paintings on chipboard and paper with acrylic paint and chalk and the prints on paper are mostly inspired by my travels through Mexico, Laos and Cambodia. My experience with these cultures and their colours are expressed in most of my art. The works on canvas are expressions of emotions during various points in time in the last couple of years.
