ABOUT NELLY

I am a Dutch artist based in Heidelberg, Germany. While painting has been a lifelong passion, it has taken a central, defining role in my life over the last decade.

My creative process is a dynamic journey of intuition and transformation. Although I start with a theme, the final artwork emerges through a process of layering, dramatic color changes, and continually shifting the perspective, often by rotating the piece, until that definitive moment when I know: This is it.

My works on chipboard created with acrylic paint and chalk and my prints on paper are deeply inspired by my travels through Mexico, Laos, and Cambodia. The vibrant colors and cultural richness of these nations are expressed throughout these pieces. In contrast, my canvases are pure expressions of intense emotions experienced during various chapters of the past few years.
